People -- if you own a restaurant, or you are a city official, or if you just want to have breakfast -- THINK SAFETY! As my previous post indicated about parklets -- if you are going to be putting people in harms way closer to traffic or closer to parking areas, you need to protect them. It just seems like common sense -- why is it not a requirement?
I write frequently about emerging standards (ASTM being the most timely) and cities and counties working on ordinances -- but vivid photos and videos do a great job of letting people see the consequences of a lack of planning and lack of concern for pedestrians, customers, and employees.
People were injured in this crash, but any little change in one of those vehicle's speed (or if the parked car had pulled out to no longer protect the frontage) and suddenly we have fatalities. Thank God -- this time people did not die.
