STOREFRONT SAFETY COUNCIL

Vehicles crash into restaurants, stores, and other types of businesses as many as 60 times per day in the United States. Over 4,000 customers, pedestrians and employees are injured in such crashes, and tragically, as many as 500 more are killed.  These accidents typically happen when drivers—of all ages—make mistakes, especially when they are pulling into or out of parking spaces that face storefronts.  The Storefront Safety Council —launched in 2012—is comprised of volunteers from a variety of backgrounds who are passionate about ending vehicle-into-building crashes. One of our founders was hit and seriously injured by a car that crashed into a convenience store in 2008. Other founding members include experts in parking, perimeter security, risk management, and related professions and industries.
