My point in writing about it is obvious -- these accidents continue as they always have. Customers continue to be injured and employees continue to be put at risk every day all over America. And it doesn't have to be this way.
Here is the coverage from that day, as reported in the Journal (see link HERE);
CAR SMASHES INTO CRUSE’S: Eleven people were injured when a runaway car smashed through the front door and into the counter of Cruse’s Restaurant, 1801 Hamilton Blvd., shortly before the evening rush hour Thursday. Witnesses said the car, driven by Nancy L. Shimitz, 25, of Sioux City was southbound on Hamilton around 4:30 p.m. when it veered west, jumping the curb in front of the Sinclair Station, 1821 Hamilton Blvd., and continuing southwest until it smashed through the glass front door of the restaurant. The car smashed through a walkway between the door and the counter before coming to a halt some 30 feet inside. Eight victims were taken to Marian Health Center where two were listed in critical condition, one was in serious condition and five were treated and released. Three others were taken to St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center.
